Denmark 0-0 Tunisia

Eriksen’s return to the world stage results in a 0-0 tie against Tunisia at the Education City Stadium in Al-Rayyan, Qatar.

This game marks Christian Eriksen’s first game in an international tournament since his incident at the 2020 Euro. The scoreless game was thrilling nonetheless. Both teams had multiple chances to snatch the win but were both unlucky when it came to finishing, not only missing the target but hitting the post, well as both teams having a goal taken back by VAR.

Mexico 0-0 Poland

A missed penalty by Robert Lewandowski costs Poland as they finish 0-0 against Mexico at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Qatar.

Mexico was able to outplay the Polish, creating 11 chances compared to Poland’s six, but could not find a goal. Poland would have the best chance of the game in the 55th minute when Héctor Moreno tackled Lewandowski in the box and Poland was awarded a penalty. Lewandowski would shoot the ball down and to the right, but Mexican keeper Guillermo Ochoa guessed right and saved it.

France 4-1 Australia

Defending champs France start their campaign off with a 4-1 win over Australia at the Al Janoub stadium in Al-Wakrah, Qatar.

Australia started off confident and was able to take the lead only nine minutes in thanks to a goal from Craig Goodwin. As the game progressed, however, France found their footing and would slowly start to dominate. They would tie things up in the 27th minute with a goal from Adrien Rabiot. France would seal their win with a brace from Olivier Giroud (32nd and 71st minute), as well as a goal from Kylian Mbappé in the 68th minute.
