Denmark vs. Czech Republic
Two first half goals seal the deal for Denmark as they beat Czech Republic 2-1 today at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan. It was a quick start for Denmark as midfielder Thomas Delaney headed in the ball off of a corner kick just five minutes into the game. He was left wide open around the penalty spot, an placed the ball just out of reach for keeper Tomáš Vaclík, and into the left side of the goal.
Right before the end of the first half, the Dane extended their lead when midfielder Joakim Mæhle played a perfect outside of the foot cross, that landed perfectly for teammate Kasper Dolberg to tap it into the upper right side of the goal.
Just four minutes into the second half, the Czechs pulled one back as main man Patrik Schick would one-time a pass from Vladimír Coufal, through the legs of a defender, and into the bottom left corner of the goal.
The Czechs would have more possession, but the Danes were able to see out the game as it ended 2-1.
This win means that Denmark are now into the Semi-finals, where they will play England.
Ukraine vs. England
England beat Ukraine in a comfortable 4-0 match today at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Two early goals in each half help England advance to the semi-finals for the first time since 1996. Harry Kane scored just four minutes into the game to give The Three Lions and early lead. He was able to lose his defender slid in, and poked the ball past keeper Heorhiy Bushchan and into the left side of the goal.
Ukraine started to find their rhythm late in the first half and looked to have the advantage going into halftime. Unfortunately, this was not the case as just one minute into the second half, defender Harry Maguire would head the ball in off of a freekick to make the score 2-0.
Four minutes later, Kane would complete his brace by heading in a nice cross between the keeper’s legs and into the middle of the goal. To finish out the scoring, substitute Jordan Henderson would head the ball into the left side of the goal off of a corner, to score his first goal for the national team.
Ukraine, who had to play overtime in their previous game, were too tired to respond and ended up passing the ball around to finish the game and avoid a greater goal deficit.
This win means that England are now into the Semi-finals, where they will play Denmark.
