The rivalry continues as Brazil will take on Argentina in the Copa América Final

Brazil vs. Peru

Brazil came out victorious in their rematch, beating Peru 1-0 on Yesterday, July 6th at the Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil would control the game, having eight shots on target compared to Peru’s two chances. You could sense that Brazil was more confident as they had already defeated Peru 4-0 in the group stage.

The goal came at the 35th minute, as Neymar would weave his way through three defenders in the box and pass the ball to the open Lucas Paquetá, who tapped it into the center of the goal. Brazil would play a bit more conservative after the goal as they focused more on defense and possession than they did offensively.

Neymar, aside from the goal, was not as involved and looked to be saving his energy for the finals. He knew he was going to be targeted (as proven by the number of times he got fouled when in possession) and reverted to a lot of one touch passes so as to limit his time on the ball.

This win means that Brazil are now into the Final, where they will play Argentina.

Argentina vs. Colombia

Argentina make it to the finals after defeating Colombia 3-2 on penalties tonight at the Mané Garrincha Stadium in Brasília, Brazil. The game would end 1-1 after regular time with goals from Argentine Lautaro Martínez in the 7th minute and Colombian Luis Díaz in the 61st minute. It was an even game with Colombia just leading possession by 51%. There was a total of 47 acknowledged fouls and 10 yellow cards administered.

Colombia were the first to take a penalty with Juan Cuadrado converting his, followed Lionel Messi who made his as well. This was followed by three misses, two of which belonged to Colombia. Argentine Leandro Paredes would make his and the score was 2-1 in favor of La Albiceleste. The next two penalties would go in making it 3-2 and putting the pressure back on Colombia. Edwin Cardona would step up to take Colombia’s last kick, but keeper Emiliano Martínez saved it, giving Argentina the victory.

This win means that Argentina are now into the Final, where they will play Brazil.
