Brazil 1-0 Switzerland
Brazil becomes the second team to qualify for the knockout stages after their win today at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Qatar.
Switzerland would surprise Brazil as it was a tight game throughout. Brazil would have to wait until the last 10 minutes of the game to get their goal.
Casemiro would score in the 82nd minute when he volleyed the ball off of the defender’s backside, and into the right-side netting.
This win means that Brazil is now Qualified for the Round of 16. In their next game, they will be looking to finish at the top of their group.
Portugal 2-0 Uruguay
Portugal became the third team to qualify for the Last 16 after their win today at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail, Qatar.
In a pretty even game, it would take 54 minutes until we saw the first goal. Bruno Fernandes, after attempting to cross the ball to Ronaldo, just misses his head and instead, the ball finds its way into the right-side netting of the goal, completely faking Uruguayan keeper Sergio Rochet, in the process.
Bruno Fernandes sealed Portugal’s qualification in the 93rd minute after converting a penalty resulting from an obvious handball by defender José Giménez.
Although they are now qualified, Portugal will also be looking to solidify their top-of-the-group standing in their next game.
