Morocco 2-1 Canada
Morocco advances as the top team in Group F with their 2-1 win over Canada today at the Al-Thumama stadium in Al-Thumama, Qatar.
Morocco knew that with a win today they would qualify for sure. They would start on the right track by scoring in the 4th minute thanks to a blunder by Canadian Milan Borjan. The goalie went out of the box to clear the ball and ended up putting it right in from of Hakim Ziyech, who would play an easy 35-yard chip into an empty goal.
Youssef En-Nesyri would make it 2-0 for Morocco in the 23rd minute, but an own goal from Nayef Aguerd in the 40th would bring things back to 2-1.
With this win, Morocco makes it out of the group stage. The only other time that they advanced to the knockouts was back in 1986.
Croatia 0-0 Belgium
Croatia was able to hold on and advance in second, after their scoreless draw against Belgium today at the Ahmad Bin Ali stadium in Al-Rayyan, Qatar.
Croatia was not too worried about winning this game as with a tie they would qualify, and whether they finished in first or second, they will likely face either Spain or Germany in the last 16.
Belgium knew they needed to win in order to qualify but they could not seem to find the goal. They were able to create 16 chances, three of which should have been squared away by their main man Romelu Lukaku, but luck was not on his side.
Lukaku would have one shot from inside the box that would hit off the post, one that deflected off of his leg but just wide of the goal, and one that went off of his chest and was saved right on the line.
