Brazil Defeat Korea Republic 4-1

Brazil advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup after scoring four first-half goals in their 4-1 win over Korea Republic today at Stadium 974 in Ras Abu Aboud, Qatar.

Brazil was already up by a goal just 7 minutes in when Vinicius (Vini) Junior received a pass that went past a melee of players in the box. He had the time and space to tee himself up and place it to the right of the two defenders plus the keeper, and into the right-hand side of the goal.

Just six minutes later Brazil would be awarded a penalty after Richarlison was tripped inside the box. Neymar would be the one to take the kick and faked out the keeper onto his knees with a slow pass into the bottom right side of the goal.

Richarlison got his third goal of the tournament in the 29th minute after a bit of Tiki-Taka from the Seleção Canarinho left him open in the box and able to slot it past the keeper into the lower left corner.

Brazil scored their final goal in the 36th minute thanks to Lucas Paquetá. Vini Jr. had the ball inside the box when he flicked the ball over the several players in the box and right into the path of Paquetá, who came running in to volley the ball from about the penalty spot into the lower left corner.

Korea Republic had a couple of chances to come back, but Alisson made some great saves to deny them. They would eventually get their consolation goal in the 76th minute when Paik Seung-ho volleyed the ball from right outside the box, into the right side netting of the goal. It was the best goal of the game but unfortunately would not do much to change the outcome.

As a result, Brazil will face Croatia in the quarterfinals on Friday, December 9th at 10 am EST.
